Accuracy

How accurate is it?

Every fact comes from an official register, open data or the venue's own pages, dated. Live figures from our pipeline.

Fresh every day

Every day we download every local authority's food register (FHRS, and FHIS in Scotland) and compare it with the day before. We pick a change up the day the council publishes it, and it's in your next Monday file. Councils publish on their own schedule, so a quiet one can lag by a week or two.

Openings and closures, from the register

New
First appears on the register, usually 28 days before trading.
Opened
Its first hygiene inspection is published, usually a few weeks after the inspection itself.
Closed
Missing from two separate publications. Where we know the company, a dissolution, liquidation or Gazette notice also counts.

The company behind the venue

We link a venue to its company only when the match is confident: name, address and dates must agree. Sole traders and partnerships aren't on Companies House; for them those fields stay empty rather than guessed.

Websites and contacts

Contacts come from the venue's own website, its social or ordering page, and Overture Maps. We re-check new venues weekly, and every few days around their expected opening, so contacts appear in your file as soon as they are published.

Check any row yourself

  • Linked to the source

New and opened venues link to their FSA entry and, where matched, Companies House. Closures carry the FSA id and the date they left the register.

  • Dated

Each source carries the date we last checked it.

  • Empty, not estimated

If we can't establish a field, it stays empty. The one exception is the estimated opening date, which is labelled as an estimate.
