OpenSoon

Regions / North East · England

Every new café, restaurant and takeaway in the North East, ready for your sales team.

OpenSoon is a weekly B2B list of every restaurant, café, takeaway, pub and hotel that registers, opens or closes in the North East, taken from the council food registers. Suppliers and sales teams get it every Monday as CSV and Excel, with each venue's stage, Companies House match and business contacts where found, for £99 a month.

The North East is the smallest English region by population, and it has only twelve councils. That makes it one of the easiest regions to work in full: a single sales rep can see every new venue from the Tweed to the Tees each Monday.

Covers Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Hartlepool and every other council area in the North East.

The North East market

Newcastle and Gateshead lead the region, with openings around Grey Street, the Quayside, Ouseburn and Jesmond. Sunderland, Durham and the Teesside towns (Middlesbrough, Stockton, Darlington, Hartlepool) add takeaways, cafés and pubs.

Northumberland brings coastal and rural venues at Alnwick, Bamburgh and along Hadrian's Wall, many timed for the visitor season.

Registers and fields

Every council in the region is unitary: the five Tyne and Wear boroughs, County Durham, Northumberland and the five Tees Valley councils. With the River Tees port health authority, that's thirteen registers, each publishing on its own schedule.

Scheme: Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS): ratings from 0 to 5.

Coastal hotels and restaurants in Northumberland need linen and laundry contracts before the season.

Questions

How do I get a list of new restaurants opening in the North East?

Subscribe to the North East feed for £99 a month. Every Monday you get that week's newly registered, newly opened and closed food businesses in the North East as CSV and Excel, plus a private web page with past weeks. Venues register with the council 28 days before trading, so many are on the list before they open. A free sample is available first.

Is the North East too small for a regional plan?

It has fewer venues than the big regions, but every new one is in the file. Check the weekly counts on this page to see whether the volume suits you, or request a free sample to see a real week.

How quickly does a new venue appear?

When the council publishes it. We check every register daily, so a venue appears in the next Monday file after the council publishes the registration.
