OpenSoon

Regions / South West · England

Win new cafés, restaurants and pubs across the South West before the season starts.

OpenSoon is a weekly B2B list of every restaurant, café, takeaway, pub and hotel that registers, opens or closes in the South West, taken from the council food registers. Suppliers and sales teams get it every Monday as CSV and Excel, with each venue's stage, Companies House match and business contacts where found, for £99 a month.

The South West is England's most seasonal hospitality market. Coastal cafés and beach kiosks register in late winter and spring, ready for Easter and the summer, and some leave the register again in the autumn. Bristol and Bath keep the region busy all year.

Covers Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Plymouth, Bournemouth, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Swindon and every other council area in the South West.

The South West market

Bristol has one of the strongest independent food scenes outside London, with steady openings around the harbourside, Stokes Croft and Gloucester Road. Bath, Cheltenham and Exeter add restaurants and cafés serving visitors and students.

In Cornwall, Devon and Dorset the timing matters more than the volume. A new café in St Ives or Salcombe is a lead for a few weeks in spring and then it's busy for the season, so the record carries the registration date and an estimated opening date.

Questions

How do I get a list of new restaurants opening in the South West?

Subscribe to the South West feed for £99 a month. Every Monday you get that week's newly registered, newly opened and closed food businesses in the South West as CSV and Excel, plus a private web page with past weeks. Venues register with the council 28 days before trading, so many are on the list before they open. A free sample is available first.

Do seasonal cafés appear in the data?

Yes, when they register as a food business at a fixed premises. Many register in late winter or spring. Mobile vans and pop-up stalls without premises are left out.

Can I see the flood risk of a new venue?

Records in England carry the Environment Agency Flood Map for Planning zone for the venue's location. It's an indicator for the area, not a survey of the building.
